Makeup Math? Every Nerd's Dream: The PHI Eye

So the picture above was my second attempt at "The PHI Eye."

I first watched this video (https://youtu.be/MLxZyGWjL-k) by Wayne Goss the other day, and I was greatly intrigued (it's supposed to make you look younger, of course I was interested!) So I did some more research into Rae Morris' techniques and was inspired to try it.

My first attempt was to make this Fibonacci Spiral (hence the nerd references- I love it!) inspired look into a day look:

I feel like this was much more successful than my more, uh, more dramatic, nighttime party version in the first photo. In fact, I would have darkened the day version up a bit to take it to night, had I not realized parts of my face were super peeling off. So I had to wash it all off and I was going to use the PMD I just got (more on that later), but realized it's technically too soon, so I scrubbed good and did a 10 minute hydration mask in the shower and started over. Complexion, fixed. Time to start again.

So I mathed away at my eyeballs yet again. Wayne's video above is a pretty good interpretation of Rae Morris' PHI Eye, but both my attempts I did follow the guidelines closer to Rae's video for Bigger Eyes (https://youtu.be/eAwx8wae_Fc) and what I could find from notes regarding her Master Class book (Fibonacci Spiral!):

So the trick being to mark the highest and lowest points of the eye and drag everything out in straight lines, this is a look I realized that if you plan on going dark with it you probably want to do your eye makeup first. Or, if you bake, while you are baking. (I am a face makeup first kind of person... But honestly, as long as you are happy with the results, the order and brands are really just personal preference and working with the products that work best with your skin). I actually just did a couple online hauls with Sephora, Ulta, PMD and (shock!) Nordstrom Rack, so I will be doing some product reviews soon, as well. I am reviving CosmoholicAnonymous and LOVING it. All goes well, I might consider doing a YouTube Channel at some point, but since I prefer to read at my own pace and not get sucked into the abyss of YouTube all the time, I am going to write about the things I try to find and often can't find in print.

Anyways, I am going to PHI my Eyes again and put the pictures and steps I use in the next post. :)

Thanks, and have a great day y'all!

    1. Yeah, me too. But I definitely got a lot of compliments on my "Egyptian Wall Art" eyes that night, LOL! We went to see a local band, and it was kind of perfect for the atmosphere there... I had to laugh, because I know you hate the big Snapchat eyes, and I feel like this definitely makes my eyes look way bigger without the filters.
